Nice Day For A White Wine

Perfect way to end a lousy Monday.

Wine, blues on NPR, cheese, pretzels, apples, twizzlers, my place.

It was cold. It was windy. It was Monday. It was gray. I loved it.

Mid Century Organic

3 hours from my hometown, San Diego has always been my favorite California City.
This home speaks to me. It says "your place is a dump".

PhotoBlog: A Sunday Jog at Greenlake

I love Green Lake, but gosh its yuppie.

Green Lake Aqua Theater
Fun Facts: The Grateful Dead and Led Zepplin both performed here in 1969, the year before the venue was closed. Before that, the theater was used for swimmusicals and Seafair.
Cute.

Run: 2.8 miles around the lake.

Ready to Ride Again?

Pony's life was short lived as the temporary inhabitant of the space that Bus Stop used to be in. Now, it looks like the 70's porn style dive, which opened months before the demolition of its space last year, is coming back!

I got the details on CHS and it looks like they are taking that funny corner flower shop building where Madison and Union meet. This is pretty sweet news considering I live just a few block away and I had a good time the couple of times I went to the old location.

Did anyone ever find the glory hole? I heard there was one but had no luck! They had better have a photo booth and all the porn on the wall they had before.

Check out photos of the block Pony used to be on here and CHS's update here.

More as it comes.

PhotoBlog: No More Needle From Chez Blogazar

I am fortunate to have the view that I have. I love seeing clouds roll into downtown and I loved the top of the needle from my dining room.

The Space Needle is on the other side of the crane. I could see the entire top of the needle from my apartment just 2 weeks ago! Ugh.

Not the end of the world, but annoying none the less. That had better be an amazing building to look at when its done!

More Space Needle on Blogazar.... here, here and here.

PhotoBlog: A Perfect Little Rose

I need to buy some plants. Just having this living thing in my apartment has changed everything. I kind of feel like I have a roommate. She's beautiful. I hope she sticks around. Maybe she can help with the rent?

Lesson Learned: Dear So and So

I am guilty of often creating templates and cutting and pasting when sending several emails regarding the same thing. Today, I made a mistake. A funny but costly one.

Lesson:
Don't forget to remove or correctly fill in "Dear So and So" from the email before you send it.

Now dance.

A Hole New World

I was just going to snap a photo of the demolition on Broadway when this alien-like aparatus appeared.

The future is scary and only runs 12.5 miles an hour.

Apparently Seattle police bought these last year. I am not sure how long they have been out but it looks like we have 6 and they are now being used to patrol Broadway. The slog wrote about this back when they were first purchased last year (here).

I ran into wall-e twice today.

Oh, and yeah... Broadway is looking more and more like a war zone. This better all be worth it in like 10 years when we can ride a slow version of a subway to the airport. But I am not cynical.

Rachael Yamakemecry

Rachael Yamagata is perfect for a sap like me.

"Our song" towards the end of my last and only long-term relationship became Be Be Your Love, at least for me. For a long time after the breakup, I could not bring myself to listen to it. I checked the little box on my itunes library so that it would never come up again. In fact, I kind of still cant listen to it and it remains unchecked. Too much sensory recall involved. I am the same way about happy dance music... sometimes I don't need to remember where I was or how I felt. Happy or sad. You know?

Post-breakup I'll Find A Way, Quiet and Reason Why defined the period for me. Quiet is currently on the playlist I like to fall asleep to. 'it'll all be as quiet when i leave, as it was when i first got here'.

None of these songs are specific to aspects of my last relationship. Just relationshipy in general. They are pretty applicable relationship/emotional breakup playlist music. I am sure I will apply these tunes to future lovers. We'll see. I came-of-age a bit during Dawsons Creek (before I realized it was crap) and I have always wanted to have songs for moments and people. My need for a soundtrack to everything was founded on all of those cheezy songs they'd play when Dawson was having a moment near his creek. I dont think Rachael was around for Dawsons time but she has had her fair share of songs on Greys Anatomy (another show I used to watch until I realized it was crap).

Anyway, I wanted to see Rachael Yamagata when she was in town last year but I was not ready. I knew that I would get teary... not interested in having a cry at a show. I have, however, decided that I am ready to be in audience for Rachael this time around.

She will be at The Crocodile next Tuesday the 31st.

I will be there with my good friend Joey. He will understand if I have a tear. It'll just be one. But he will understand.

@ $12, how can i not go? Get sappy. See you there!

Everything's falling, and I am included in that...

Bed Rules

If I went home with a guy and he had a bedroom that looked like this, I would consider him a keeper. All the dopes I sleep with have a stack of mattresses in the corner or a dumpy metal futon digging into my back and creaking the entire time. Get it together boys! I have put together some of my requirements below.

Ideal:
  • Your bed should be made... so we can unmake it together (wink).
  • You should have books or magazines at your bedside (I don't care if you don't actually read).
  • Your bedding should look like you chose it and not like you inherited it from your parents or old roommates.
  • Condoms and lube should be accessible from the bed but not out for the world to see.
  • You should have enough pillows for both of us in case I agree to stay the night.

Not Required, but appreciated:
  • A down comforter with a duvet over it.
  • No roommates.
  • An apartment I feel comfortable walking barefoot in.
the photo of the room above is from Eli on the Upper East Side in NYC. It comes to us via ATNY. I like his place because it looks good and masculine enough without looking like he tried too hard.

Get Those Hipsters on a Treadmill Already!

Grand Opening Tonight!
Saturday March 14th between 4pm- 6:30pm at Boylston and Pine
www.urban-fit.net

Walking home a few days ago, on Boylston just as I noticed a sign on the old building behind the pawn shop, across from Hot Mama's... It read Urban-Fit Coming Soon!

Hip and accessible. My two favorite qualities in anything.

I always complain about how far my gym is....hmmm. Now its got some competition. If I didn't enjoy my trainer at Golds (@ Broadway Market), I would consider Urban-Fit. After all, it is just a block away! I will have a tough decision to make in a few months when my contract is up! How/should I break up with my trainer? Scary.

Check out their website, their location definitely looks hip and well-equipped.

On A Personal Note: Randomly Missing My Kid Sister and My Dog

He does not like having his photo taken in his old age.

He does, however, like a good belly rub. (sorry you had to see my foot).

She is 15 now. He was much younger here. If I could go back in time for a moment, I would go to when this photo was taken. She was so tiny I could carry her around on my shoulders all day. Just as cute now. Hopefully she still thinks I am as cool as she did back then.

Amaze Wallpaper

I stumbled upon this over on decor8 earlier today and I have been thinking about it ever since. Its my day off! I can think about whatever I want!

I love the room but its the wallpaper that is killer.
You can buy it here. Feel free to pick me up a few rolls.

The Day That Could Not Make Up Its Mind...

What a strange day. It sunny, then its not. The only thing that is constant is the fact that its really effen cold.
