Blogazar's Seattle TOP 10 List: Capitol Hill

CIMG5185

1. Capitol Hill: Having moved here from the suburbs of Arizona, I have a great appreciation for the community I am surrounded by here in beautiful Seattle. Capitol Hill has been a haven for my sexuality, a place to indulge in all things gay. It isn’t The Castro but it is ours and it is my home. Last year when violence was up in the neighborhood; the community came together to put a stop to it. Today there is still a movement to eradicate hate and violence from the hill. Business and organizations have joined together with law enforcement to provide the Men and Women of Capitol Hill with resources and information regarding hate crimes.

Capitol Hill is in the heart of the city without feeling sterile like downtown sometimes does. Here you are allowed to feel a part of the big city but where you can walk to all points in the neighborhood and really feel a sense of home and community. It will be years before I am sick of it. Actually, I don’t think I will ever be over the hill- Get it?! Maybe one day I will move to a quieter part of it, something in the north near Montlake perhaps. Often, noise and high housing costs are reasons I hear people don’t change their mind about living here but I didn’t move up here from the suburbs to go live in Auburn or Bellevue and any other suburb for that matter. CAPITOL HILL IS FOR ME.

The shirts at Hot Mama's Pizza, on Pine and
Belmont, say it best:
"If you like
New York so much, why do you live in Seattle?"

the photo about was taken in front of the Starbucks on Olive Way towards downtown. I call it My favorite time of the day.

THIS LIST IS IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER.
